Madam Jeanette / Lemon Habanero Chili Pepper Seeds
125,000 – 300,000 Scoville Heat Units
The Habanero Madame Jeanette Yellow Chili originates from Suriname. Also rumoured to be named after a famous Brazilian prostitute in the Netherlands, the typical Dutch name for these peppers is Madame Jeanette.
These beautiful bushy plants will initially produce white flowers, then green pods that will eventually turn to a vibrant yellow. Approx pod size 3 – 5 cm. The plant itself can grow up to 85 cm.
Spiciness and an unbelievably good flavour make this variety a real culinary delight. Some describe the flavour as fruity with hints of mango and pineapple.
The germination temperature is between 22 and 28°C (12 – 21 day germination period).
The plants need fresh, well-fertilized, permeable soil, and do not tolerate water logging. They should be planted in a sunny, protected place with at least 6 hours of sunlight. As the plants have a particularly long maturation period, it is recommended to grow them in a pot, so that you can easily bring the plant inside when the temperature falls below 12°C.
To keep the plant over the winter, cut it back by 20cm after harvesting and place in a light place where it is at least 15°C.
